Short for "See you on the river", this valedication is how paddlers sign off their letters and emails to other paddlers. It embodies connection as well as respect, and intention.
Communitas is a Latin noun referring either to an unstructured community in which people are equal, or to the very spirit of community.
As it pertains to members of the Vermont Paddlers Club, communitas aptly describes the unstructured state in which - as equals - we share a common experience, often through a rite of passage.
The mission of the VPC is to facilitate the enjoyment of recreational paddlesport. To this end we organize a schedule of whitewater and flatwater canoe and kayak trips which suit the interests of VPC members, promote safe and enjoyable paddling through education and other activities (including winter pool sessions), maintain an awareness of river resource and conservation issues, and take action when appropriate to protect paddling resources. ❤️
